President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its international partnerships, pledging to quickly implement all agreements signed with Colombia during the ongoing three-day visit by Colombian Vice President Francia Márquez.

The meeting, which took place on Monday at the State House in Abuja, focused on forging new bonds for mutual prosperity, Eko Hot Blog reports.

Vice President Márquez described Nigeria as “the land of our ancestors,” expressing her delight at leading the Colombian delegation. She identified key partnership areas, including aviation, visa facilitation, political consultations, cultural exchange, and trade.

She also highlighted Colombia’s interest in direct flights between the two nations and praised Nigeria’s leadership role in Africa.

President Tinubu urged Colombian business leaders to seize investment opportunities in Nigeria’s oil, gas, and agriculture sectors. He noted that Nigeria’s young population provides a huge market and a capable workforce to drive economic growth.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, also stated that the visit would help rekindle historical ties between Africa and Latin America, which slavery and colonialism disrupted.
