EKO HOT BLOG reports that Uruguay and Colombia celebrated commanding 3-0 victories, while Paraguay’s goalless draw was sufficient to guarantee their participation. These teams join regional powerhouses Argentina, Brazil, and Ecuador, who had booked their places earlier in the campaign.

The 2026 World Cup will be historic, featuring a record 48 teams for the first time. It will also mark the first occasion the tournament is jointly hosted by three nations— the United States, Mexico, and Canada— all of whom qualify automatically as hosts.

Outside South America, early qualifiers have also emerged from Asia and Oceania. Japan, Iran, South Korea, Australia, Uzbekistan, Jordan, and New Zealand have confirmed their participation, reflecting the growing global reach of the sport.

In total, 43 nations will secure direct qualification through their continental campaigns. The final two World Cup spots will be decided in March 2026 via intercontinental playoffs, where six teams will compete for the remaining berths.

Uruguay’s qualification ensures the continued presence of the first-ever World Cup winners from 1930, while debutants like Jordan highlight the tournament’s expanding diversity and international appeal.
