EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ladoja, who once served as a teacher in the school before joining politics, made the vow on Monday when the school principal, Rasheed Fasasi, led a delegation of the management team on a courtesy visit to his Bodija residence.
“Beyond being an alumnus of the school, I was also a former teacher here, where I taught Mathematics and Physics. So, during my visit after the coronation, I will engage the students in classwork,” Ladoja said.
He explained that returning to the classroom would allow him to reconnect with his academic roots while inspiring a new generation of learners.
While several of his predecessors in Ibadan’s royal stool had backgrounds in education, none returned to teaching after ascending the throne. Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade I (2007–2016) started his career as a teacher in the 1930s before joining the colonial army and later politics. Oba Moshood Lekan Balogun, the 42nd Olubadan, was once a university lecturer before venturing into politics. Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Ladoja’s immediate predecessor, also taught briefly in a primary school before moving into technical studies.
Unlike them, Ladoja has committed to actively stepping back into classroom teaching after his coronation.

Earlier, Principal Fasasi commended the monarch-in-waiting, describing the gesture as one that would rekindle pride and inspire students. He congratulated Ladoja on his forthcoming coronation and wished him a peaceful reign.
Ladoja emerged as Olubadan-designate following the death of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin in July. He is set to become the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland under the city’s merit-based succession system.
