Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has ordered security agencies to treat anyone they catch acting as an informant for bandits with the same severity as the criminals themselves.

According to Eko Hot Blog, Governor Aliyu gave the directive during a condolence visit to Wurno and Rabah Local Government Areas, where recent attacks by bandits claimed lives and destroyed property.

The governor, visibly shaken by the devastation, condemned the informants. He called them “unpatriotic citizens” who sell out their communities for personal gain and vowed that his administration would no longer tolerate their activities.

“We are determined to fish out these dastardly informants and their accomplices by all means,” Aliyu declared.

Governor Aliyu urged residents to support security efforts by reporting suspicious individuals, particularly those living above their means, to the authorities. He also tasked Islamic clerics to use their sermons to sensitize followers on the dangers of banditry.

The governor listed several measures already taken to combat insecurity, including deploying over 170 patrol vehicles and motorcycles and establishing the State Community Guard Corps.

He thanked residents for their prayers and urged them to remain vigilant as the state intensifies its fight against banditry.
