OPD Assures Ikoyi Inmates Of Free Legal Representation

The Office of the Public Defender (OPD) has assured 110 inmates of Ikoyi Correctional Centre of free and quality legal representation in any Court across the State.

The Director, Office of the Public Defender, Mrs. Olayinka Adeyemi, made this known during her recent visit to the correctional centre to identify inmates who require free legal representation.

She further said that OPD is ready to ensure access to justice and quality legal representation provided by the Office, assuring that the Office would increase the number of its visits and take up more court cases on behalf of inmates.

Adeyemi explained that some of the inmates being represented in court were charged with various criminal offences such as robbery, theft, assault, cultism and forgery.
