The Lagos State Government has unveiled a 101-day tourism and entertainment initiative aimed at revitalising the state’s hospitality, creative, and sports sectors, while boosting revenue for stakeholders.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the festival, tagged “101 Days in Lagos”, will run from 26 September 2025 to 4 January 2026 and will feature a diverse line-up of cultural celebrations, entertainment events, sporting competitions, and hospitality experiences across various locations in the state.

Announcing the initiative during a strategic meeting with the Pulse Africa team, the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, said the project would revolutionise Lagos’ tourism landscape, positioning the city as a year-round global destination and establishing it as Africa’s cultural powerhouse.

“The agenda includes empowering young people through robust skills development, showcasing Lagos’ rich cultural heritage to a global audience, promoting international sporting engagements, and diversifying entertainment options to strengthen the daytime economy,” Aregbe stated.

He explained that the programme aligns seamlessly with the Ministry’s vision to promote tourism, develop the creative economy, and highlight Lagos’ unique cultural narratives.

The festival promises a vibrant calendar of activities, including:

  • Skills Up Lagos Initiative – equipping young people with relevant skills in tourism, hospitality, and event management.

  • Music and Fashion Festivals – showcasing the city’s creative talent and cultural identity.

  • Sporting Competitions – fostering local and international sports engagement.

  • Art Exhibitions and Food Fairs – celebrating Lagos’ diversity and culinary excellence.

Expressing her organisation’s commitment, Ms Katharina Link, CEO of Pulse Africa, praised Lagos for its energy, creativity, and opportunities, affirming support for showcasing the city’s cultural pulse on a global stage.

According to the state government, the initiative is designed to:

  • Promote Lagos as Africa’s cultural and tourism hub.

  • Boost local and international tourism.

  • Encourage trade between visitors and host communities.

  • Drive partnerships with global stakeholders.

  • Empower young people through skills acquisition.

With over three months of uninterrupted festivities, “101 Days in Lagos” aims to cement the state’s position as a leading destination for culture, entertainment, and tourism in Africa.
