INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, stated that of those who have completed the in-person registration, 36,652 (50.71%) are female, while 35,622 (49.29%) are male.

In terms of age group, a large majority — 54,718 (75.71%) are between 18 and 34 years old, with 30,953 (42.83%) of them identified as students.

Speaking after a regular Commission meeting held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, Olumekun explained that the online pre-registration, which began on Monday, August 18, 2025, has entered its second week. As of Sunday, August 31, a total of 2,532,062 Nigerians had registered online.

Out of the total online pre-registrants, 1,218,482 (48.12%) are male, and 1,313,580 (51.88%) are female.

Young Nigerians aged 18 to 34 continue to dominate the numbers, with 1,602,484 (63.29%) in this age group, while 647,528 (25.57%) are students.

Olumekun reminded Nigerians that online registration alone is not sufficient.

“We urge all online pre-registrants to complete the process in person at designated INEC registration centres across the country. Without this final step, the online registration remains invalid,” he said.

He added that the Commission’s online platform is accessible round-the-clock, enabling citizens to start the process from anywhere, even on weekends.
