Sanwo-Olu described Lagos as a “movement,” noting that the city hosts 23 of Nigeria’s fastest-growing companies, according to the Financial Times. He stressed that the state’s innovation ecosystem thrives on supportive policies, vibrant private enterprises, and a resilient startup culture.

The GITEX Expo Nigeria 2025, organised by the Lagos State Government in partnership with KAOUN International, the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), has drawn global tech giants such as IBM, Meta, AWS, Cisco, and MTN, alongside homegrown startups.

Sanwo-Olu also commended the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, for his leadership in advancing artificial intelligence infrastructure and inclusive digital solutions.

Tijani, in his remarks, highlighted the pressure Lagos faces from rapid urbanisation, with about 2,000 people moving into the city daily.

He said the demand for robust digital infrastructure has become more urgent and revealed that a new government-backed programme, set to begin October 1, will support 75 research projects in the digital sector.

The minister stressed the need for stronger collaboration between startups, corporates, and government to scale innovation, build resilience, and secure Nigeria’s place in the global digital economy.
