At least six people lost their lives and several others sustained serious injuries after two Palestinian gunmen opened fire at a bus stop in northern Jerusalem on Monday morning.

A civilian and a soldier on site responded quickly and shot the attackers dead.
The Israeli emergency service confirmed that those killed include three men in their 30s, one man in his 50s, and a woman around the same age.
Eight others are currently receiving treatment in hospitals for gunshot wounds.

There has been no official claim of responsibility, but the militant group Hamas praised the attack.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the site shortly after the incident, declaring that the country is engaged in a “multi-front battle against terrorism”.
He added that Israeli forces have begun operations to track down those connected to the attackers.
Security officials say the gunmen are believed to have come from the Palestinian villages of al-Qubeiba and Qatanna, near Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.
In response, Israeli troops have surrounded several areas near the city to prevent further attacks.
Authorities recovered guns, ammunition, and a knife from the scene. Israeli police say investigations are ongoing to uncover anyone who helped, planned, or had knowledge of the incident.
Dashcam footage from the scene showed people men, women, and children—fleeing in panic as gunshots rang out.
One of the wounded, Ester Lugasi, described the terrifying moment, saying, “I heard gunshots and just ran. It felt like I was running forever. I thought I wouldn’t make it out alive.”
A first responder, Daniel Katzenstein, who assisted victims at the scene, said one of the injured was a bus driver named Mohammed.
“He also ran to help. This isn’t about religion; it’s about those who bring destruction and those who want peace,” he explained.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog condemned the incident, calling it “a reminder that we are facing evil in its raw form”.
He urged the international community to understand the scale of the threat.
World leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron and Germany’s Foreign Minister have also strongly condemned the attack, describing it as cowardly and brutal.
