The Olubadan throne is open to all Ibadan indigenes able to climb the chieftaincy ladder.

The Olubadan-in-Council, which is the group of kingmakers, comprise the monarch and the high chiefs.

As checks by The Nation show, ascension is rotated between two lines — Olubadan, Egbe Agba (civil) and Balogun (military).

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, has condoled with the entire Oduduwa race worldwide, over the demise of the Oluban of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji Ogunguniso 1 on Sunday.

Ooni in statement through his Director of Media & Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare, described the late Oba Saliu as a great monarch whose reign would forever be remembered for the tremendous development brought to Ibadanland in particular and Nigeria at large.

Body of late Olubadan has arrived palace.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the body of the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has been taken to Popoyemoja Palace, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Sunday.

His corpse was welcomed by a large crowd among whom were sympathisers who broke down in tears as the late monarch’s remains were offloaded from an ambulance.

The departed monarch’s body was wrapped in light blue cloth when he was taken inside his palace by some aides.

It had been reported that the Olubadan of Ibadan land passed away on Sunday.

He was 93 years old.

His death was confirmed by palace sources.
