Two persons have died and one other have been injured as another vehicle plunged into river.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that two persons have died and another was injured during a crash at the dual carriage bridge between Ososa and Odogbolu along Ijebu-Ode – Sagamu expressway.
The crash, which occurred around 15:55pm on Wednesday, involved a Toyota Camry marked SMK-08HK and a Lexus RX 330 Jeep with registration number MUS-370GV.
It was learnt that excessive speed led one of the vehicles to collide into the rear of the other atop the bridge before it fell into the river underneath.
A heavy capacity crane mobilised to the scene had recovered the crashed vehicle out of the river..
Confirming the incident on Wednesday evening, the Superintendent Route Commander Florence Okpe of the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) Public Education unit Office for Sector Commander FRSC, Ogun Sector Command, Ahmed Umar, said the injured victim was taken to State Hospital, Ijebu Ode while the dead were deposited at the State hospital’s morgue, Ijebu Ode.
She quoted the Sector Commander to have cautioned motorists against excessive speed when approaching a bridge or sharp bend as it is one of the causes of traffic accident on highway.
According to her, Ahmed Umar also commiserated with the family of the victims and enjoined them to contact FRSC Ijebu-ode for more information.
