US President Donald Trump has taken a swipe at Chinese President Xi Jinping during a major military parade in Beijing, where global attention focused on China’s growing influence and alliances.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Trump used the moment to highlight ongoing tensions between the United States and China, especially over trade, technology, and regional security.

Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump addressed Xi directly, saying he should “extend my warm greetings to Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un, as you all continue to work together against the interests of the United States.”
He did not offer further explanation, but the post appeared to suggest suspicion over growing ties between China, Russia, and North Korea.
Trump also questioned whether Xi would publicly acknowledge America’s support during World War II in a speech given just before the parade.

“The United States gave massive help to China during the war. Many Americans lost their lives in China’s fight for victory and national pride.”
In the end, President Xi refrained from directly naming the United States in his remarks, though he did thank unspecified countries for their assistance during the war.
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not responded to the former president’s remarks. However, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, when asked about the comments in Beijing, appeared to brush them off.
“Let’s hope he meant that in a figurative way,” Peskov said in a video shared by Russian media. “Nobody here is plotting any conspiracies.”
President Xi used the military parade and a recent Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit to boost China’s global standing, particularly in Asia.
Many analysts believe the Chinese government is aiming to challenge US influence in the region, especially with tensions high over Taiwan the self-governing island Beijing considers part of its territory.
In response to questions about whether China’s military display was a direct challenge to American power, Trump downplayed the threat.
“You all know I’ve always had a good relationship with President Xi,” he said while speaking to reporters at the White House. “But the truth is, China needs the United States far more than we need them.”
Speaking separately in a radio interview with conservative commentator Scott Jennings, Trump expressed confidence in America’s military strength.
“Our armed forces are unmatched globally. China would never think of using their military against us that would be a terrible mistake,” he said.
