On Friday, the officers demanded that the N10,000 allotted for their meals be paid as soon as possible.

EKO HOT BLOG learnt that the police personnel, many of whom arrived in Anambra during the week, were not given accommodation.

According to a video shared by Daily Post on Friday and monitored by EKOHOTBLOG, policemen gathered at the Idemili Ogidi Police Division, chanting “give us our money.”

An affected senior police officer who spoke to reporters said; “Here are policemen protesting over non-payment of Election feeding allowance. 10,000 naira is the amount for feeding. Meanwhile, over three days now, no accommodation and no food to eat. Many of the junior ranks are stranded in Idemili Ogidi Division where they received 1,500 police personnel from Lagos State.”

Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer, did not answer calls to his phone number, neither did he reply to a message seeking his reaction to the incident.

Recall that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, had deployed over 34,000 policemen to Anambra for the governorship election.

Ekohotblog reports that on Saturday, a man walked on stage and slapped a newly appointed Iranian governor in the face, causing the occasion to be drastically disrupted.

When the incident occurred, Zeinolabedin Khorram, the new governor of East Azerbaijan region, was on stage giving a speech at the Imam Khomeini Mosque in Tabriz, in the northeastern metropolis of Azerbaijan.

A video released by Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency shows a man calmly approaching Khorram, smacking him across the face, and then shoving him. After then, security guards can be seen sprinting toward the perpetrator and dragging him off the platform.

It was a rare breach of security in Iran — the event was attended by the country’s Interior Minister, representatives of Ayatollah Khamenei’s office and other state officials.

The semi-official news agency Tasnim identified the offender as Ayoub Alizadeh, a member of the country’s armed forces. In an interview with state-run television IRIB, the provincial governor said he did not know the offender personally.

The attack’s motivation is unknown. According to Khorram, the criminal assaulted him after he was caught because he was furious because a man, not a woman, had vaccinated his wife at a Covid-19 vaccine clinic, according to IRIB’s report.

According to another report, the incident was not motivated by politics. When asked about the incident in parliament on Saturday, Ali Alizadeh, a representative from Maragheh, a city in East Azerbaijan province, said “certainly, this person’s motive was personal and it had nothing to do with the appointment of the governor or even his words.”

Ekohotblog obtained a new video from Blue Origin’s spaceship which showed 90-year-old actor William Shatner staring down at the Earth.

Shatner portrayed the cosmos-exploring commander Captain James T. Kirk in “Star Trek” for decades. On Wednesday morning, the TV personality embarked on his own cosmic journey into space, launching atop Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket and flying 62 miles above Earth to the edge of space. He became the oldest person to reach space as a result of his voyage.

Shatner and the ship’s three other passengers – former NASA engineer Chris Boshuizen, healthcare entrepreneur Glen de Vries, and Blue Origin’s vice president of mission and flight operations, Audrey Powers – experienced about three minutes of weightlessness and saw the curvature of Earth below at the peak of the 11-minute flight.

On Wednesday afternoon, Blue Origin tweeted a video of those weightless seconds. Cameras inside the space capsule captured footage of people unbuckling from their chairs and drifting around.

“This is nuts!” Powers exclaimed. “Holy hell.”

While the other passengers flipped and floated around, Shatner just gripped the edge of a window and gazed at the Earth below.

“No description can equal this,” he said.

Still, once the capsule had parachuted back to Earth and landed safely, Shatner tried to describe it – particularly the thin line of Earth’s atmosphere.

“Look at the beauty of that color. And it’s so thin. And you’re through it in an instant,” he told Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos. “Suddenly, you’re through the blue, and you’re into black.”

Shatner added: “You’re looking into blackness, into black ugliness. And you look down – there’s the blue down there and the black up there. There is Mother Earth and comfort, and there is – is there death? I don’t know. Is that death? Is that the way death is?”

At one point during his post-flight reflection, he covered his face and wiped away tears.

Many astronauts who’ve seen Earth from space have described overwhelming feelings of awe, unity with the rest of humanity, and an appreciation for the fragility of our planet. Experts call this the “overview effect.”

“I am so filled with emotion about what just happened. It’s extraordinary,” Shatner told Bezos. “I hope I never recover from this. I hope that I can maintain what I feel now. I don’t want to lose it.”

NDLEA Arrests ‘Drug Trafficker’ Who Defecated 59 Wraps Of Cocaine

One Okoguale Douglas, has been apprehended for allegedly trafficking 78.2 grammes of cocaine from Nigeria to Italy, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has said.

Femi Babafemi, NDLEA spokesman, who disclosed this on Friday, said Douglas was arrested at the NDLEA screening point at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja.

Douglas, who hails from Esan north LGA in Edo state, also claimed to reside in Italy

He reportedly excreted 59 wraps of cocaine after he was placed under observation.

Babafemi said the suspect claimed to have arrived the country through Libya for his father’s burial, and was promised some money on successful delivery of the drugs to Italy.

“Under investigation, he claimed he has been residing in Italy since 2011, after entering the country via Libya with one of his uncles. He said he works as a restaurant attendant in Italy where he earns 900 Euros per month and also works as a painter on his free day and gets about 400 Euros upon completion of any work,” the statement read.

“He also confessed he was promised 2000 Euros if he successfully delivers the drugs to Italy.”

According to the spokesperson, Buba Marwa, the NDLEA chairman, commended the officers of the agency for the arrest.

In a related development, the Kidnappers have just released a video showing the kidnapped victims. From the heartbreaking clip; the hostages comprised of grown men, woman and little children.

Also, the video captures the moment the bandits were conversing in Hausa language, which means they are northerners.

The kidnappers are all wielding highly sophisticated weapons and were seen shooting sporadically in the air.

Woman Allegedly Attempts To Kidnap Three School Children In Ado-Ekiti

Mrs Kazeem Tawa, a suspected female kidnapper, who allegedly attempted to abduct three school children in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, has been nabbed by operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command.

Spokesperson of the command, Sunday Abutu, who confirmed the incident on Friday, said the suspect woman attempted to kidnap the children by asking with them to help carry her bag containing some items to an unknown destination, EKO HOT BLOG  gathered.

“Some residents around INEC Office, Bank Road, Ado-Ekiti, on Thursday, at about 1420hrs, raised an alarm, that a strange woman, identified as Mrs Kazeem Tawa, attempted to abduct three school children along Bank Road, Ado-Ekiti,” Abutu said.

“Upon the receipt of the information from a good Samaritan. A team of joint patrol, comprising the Police, Army and other security agencies put in place by The Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi, was dispatched to the scene immediately and was able to rescue the children and apprehended the suspect.

 

“The children narrated that the woman pleaded with them to help her carry her bag containing some items to an unknown destination. The children said they refused initially but after a few moment of conversing with the woman, they became unconscious and started following the woman with her bag.

“It took the quick intervention of some mechanics around who noticed their suspicious movement to stop them. When asked about the children, she claimed that the children belonged to her. But the scenario changed when the children countered her that she was not their mother.

“During interrogation by the personnel of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the woman could not satisfactorily state her mission and reason for trying to lead the school children to an unknown destination.

Items recovered from the suspect include charm, soft drinks, oranges, drugs, adult/children slippers, fresh banana, maggi, garri, clothes, INEC jackets, among others.

Abutu said investigation was ongoing and the suspect would be charged to court once concluded.

43-Year-Old Man Allegedly Defiles 3-Year-Old Girl In Church

A Surulere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Thursday apprehended a 43-year-old man, Ifeanyi Ndieze, who allegedly defiled a three-year-old girl in a church.

The court could not take the plea of the defendant as the Magistrate, Mrs M. I. Dan-Oni, said she needed advice from the state Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

She ordered that the defendant should be kept at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the advice, and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and forward a copy to the DPP.

Dan-Oni adjourned the case until Dec. 2 for mention.

The defendant, who resides at Karimu Street, Surulere, is facing a charge of defilement.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on Oct. 29 at 8:00p.m at No. 18, Salau St., Surulere.

Ekhueorohan said that the defendant saw the toddler in a church and inserted his fingers in her private part in the guise of playing with her.

The prosecutor submitted that the defendant was arrested after the toddler told her mother what he did.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that defilement contravenes Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

#SWAT: Police Trains Over 400 Personnel To Replace SARS

The Special Weapons And Tactics Sqaud SWAT, which was formed to replace the disbanded  SARS, have officially commenced training at the Police Mobile College in Eggon, Nasarawa State.

A video shared by Channels TV, shows the moment the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi,  inspected the over 400 SWAT officers rigorously engaged in their training session when the minister visited the Police college on Monday.

The Minister said,

“I am happy with the progress the personnel is making and charged them to be good role models of the society.

“I believe at the end of this exercise you are going to come out as very dedicated and very committed mobile police officers who will be equal to the task we have assigned to you.

“Your new responsibility as a replacement to SARS is to face the challenges of armed robbery and other crimes across the country.”

He also acknowledged the changing times and advised the personnel to uphold the principles of democracy and human rights as they get set to carry out their new task.

The minister further assured the personnel, of President Muhammadu Buhari’s readiness to improve their welfare and other packages promised them.

VIDEO: Soldier Allegedly Shoots Abuja Civilian In Broad Daylight

An unidentified Nigerian soldier has been caught on camera allegedly shooting an unarmed civilian in broad daylight.

According to a video made available by The Punch, the shooting reportedly happened somewhere in Abuja, the federal capital territory.

EkoHotBlog reports that the said incident is coming up at the time the Nigerian government is yet to fully unravel the massacre that happened at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State, Tuesday 20.

Despite video pieces of evidence, the Nigerian military had denied involvement in the Lekki killing which was condemned locally and internationally.

Emmanuel Iwueke, an Instagram comedian, popularly known as Craze Clown, has opened up about the ghastly motor accident in which he survived and a life was lost yesterday, October 27.

It will be recalled that the comedian took to Instagram to express gratitude of surviving the accident he was involved in on his wife’s birthday.

In a new post he shared on Instagram, Craze Clown revealed that someone died in the accident. He added that he “saw his life flash before his eyes.”

He Wrote;

“My people I have no words people … I want to talk but only ‘THANK YOU JESUS’ keeps coming out of my mouth! Somebody died in this accident! I saw my life flash before my eyes! I already accepted my fate but GOD SAID NO!!! This song says EVERYTHING for me! THANK YOU JESUS

According to a report given in pidgin language, the woman who is known to be into ‘call girls’ kind of business was seen wandering about on the Kolo street, in Sapele after she was reportedly dropped off from a car.

The report had it that she was left with money, totaling two hundred thousand naira, including an iPhone which was said to have been taken away by some street boys.

Video: Fans Attack Man United Chief Executive Ed Woodward’s Home

Home of the Chief Executive of Manchester United, Ed Woodward was recently attacked by a group of fans appearing to throw flares over the gate of the Old Trafford supremo.

The clip which is now widespread on social media featured the caption “Ed Woodward’s gonna die.”

Neither Woodward, his wife or their two young children were present at the abode during the time of the attack.

United’s hierarchy have come under increasing pressure following their disappointing season, with the club accumulating their worst points tally in the top-flight after 24 games in over 30 years.

United supporters are also planning a walkout during Saturday’s home game with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

A spokesman of the club said: “Manchester United Football Club have tonight been made aware of the incident outside the home of one of our employees.

“We know that the football world will unite behind us as we work with Greater Manchester Police to identify the perpetrators of this unwarranted attack.

“There is simply no excuse for this.”

Airtel Launches Airtel TV Platform On Demand

Telecoms giant, Airtel Nigeria, has launched its video streaming app, AirtelTV.

The Television app which is currently available for download is expected to be a one-stop platform for all visuals including music videos, news, sports, and live TV.

AirtelTV will be available to only Airtel subscribers across the country and will come at no subscription fee. This means, as long as you’re a registered Airtel customer, you’ll be able to stream freely.

The television app, which is available on Android and iOS, is subscription-free and offers registered users unlimited access to the entire Airtel TV content library as well as enables them stream different content categories on the robust 4G network.

The model Airtel intends to adopt with AirtelTV seems to revolve around getting more internet subscribers for Airtel broadband. The only way to access the service is to be a registered Airtel user. And as Mr Balsingh said and confirmed by one reviewer, AirtelTV only comes on if a user is browsing with Airtel internet network.

“Since the app will not work with my WiFi, I’ll definitely not be trying this anytime soon with my very limited Internet data volume,” Ayodele Apata who tried to use the service says.

While Airtel promised a lot, feedback from airtel subscribers who have used the new app however show that people expect more from AirtelTV if it hopes to claim a solid stand in the Video-on-Demand (VoD) market.

“The app is missing hot channels like BBC, sports and entertainment channels,” Zed Marshall said. “Then the movies streaming are (sic) a little bit old fashioned. Try putting something of our time. A lot needs to be done for this app to earn a 5 star rating.”

“Terrible and wouldn’t connect,” another user, Kamono Chilwa says. “It has a narrow selection of content and worst of all no real sport channels.”

Even though Mr Balsingh claims Airtel has partnered with top content providers like Trace, Bollywood, Al Jazeera and others, a cross-section of reviews clearly reveal that people expect more interesting channels to be added to the app to make it more useful.

Airtel Launches AirtelTV, but Does it Stand a Chance Against Other VoD Platforms?
It is possible that the content partnerships have not yet kicked off in earnest and Airtel is still testing the waters. It is also possible that AirtelTV just isn’t ready for the competition.

“I saw the advert about this app on Instagram, I rushed it thinking it was some stuff like Netflix, only to download this and see nonsense.”

There are also some positive feedbacks from users of the app although it still ends with a need to improve on its content.

“Thanks so much for bringing this app,” Victor said. “It is very interesting, everything is clear. I now have entertainment everywhere I go. I love it. But you should just add super sports. Cheers otherwise.”

It’s too early to decide if AirtelTV is here to stay. While making the app free could attract a large number of new and willing subscribers, the service will require quality and up-to-date content to keep those subscribers.
