3 Foods You Must Never Eat Before Taking Drugs

Sometimes doctors or medical professionals advise patients not to eat before taking some medications, this advice is not a mere one, there are some reasons for it and some drugs may not work as they should when taken alongside certain foods or drinks.

Some medications don’t generally work well if a patient eats before taking them, but these foods and drinks tend to cause some contradictions if consumed before taking medicines.

1. Grapefruit

Grapefruit juice should not be taken before Medications. This is because of its higher chances of interacting with the medicine being taken, so it’s advisable to take your medications before drinking this juice.

2. Foods High In Vitamin K

Foods that are high in vitamin K such as leafy green vegetables should also not be consumed before taking medications. There is a higher chance of interaction with the medicine which may either reduce the potency of the drug or increase it to unhealthy levels.

3. Foods High in Potassium, lIke Banana and Potatoes

Salt substitutes should also be avoided before taking medicine. Foods that contain potassium to a good extent such as bananas, potatoes etc. should not also be consumed before taking medications.
