US President Donald Trump has played down talks suggesting he is eyeing the Nobel Peace Prize, despite repeated nominations and public support from members of his team.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Trump speaking in a phone interview with newsmen, stated that he had no comments about the speculation, adding, “My goal isn’t to chase awards. I’m more concerned about stopping wars and saving lives.”

This calm approach contrasts with earlier remarks he made where he insisted that he was deserving of the Nobel honour, especially for his efforts in resolving various international disputes.
Trump also revealed he’s actively working toward helping end the war between Russia and Ukraine. “We’re moving toward a solution. Something will happen we’re going to get it done,” he said confidently.

He is expected to hold phone discussions with pro-Ukraine European leaders meeting in Paris this Thursday. His special envoy, Steve Witkoff, will be representing him at the talks.
The Nobel Peace Prize, set to be announced on October 10 by the Norwegian Nobel Committee, has previously been awarded to four US presidents including Barack Obama, one of Trump’s most notable rivals.
Back in February, Trump had expressed frustration about the issue, stating: “They’re never going to give me the Nobel. I know I deserve it, but it’s not going to happen.”
His spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt, also pushed the narrative in July, saying the former president has long earned the global honour.
Others in Trump’s circle have also voiced strong support. At a recent cabinet meeting, Witkoff described Trump as the “most worthy candidate ever” due to his “transformative” peace efforts.
Trump has reportedly had conversations about the award with Norwegian Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg, although Stoltenberg has not publicly confirmed this.
He has been nominated by several countries, including Pakistan and Israel. Trump also claimed credit earlier this year for helping reduce tensions between Pakistan and India.
