  • Zero-fee payments from U.S. clients
  • Virtual USD cards for global access

Nigerian fintech startup Boldswitch has introduced U.S. bank accounts designed for Nigerian freelancers, entrepreneurs, and digital creators, offering them direct access to international financial services that were once difficult to reach.

Eko Hot Blog reports that the launch addresses long-standing challenges Nigerians face when dealing with foreign clients and platforms. These include delayed transactions, high fees, and restricted access to services such as PayPal, Google, Amazon, and Netflix. By opening a U.S. account with Boldswitch, users can now receive payments instantly, transfer funds to U.S. accounts, and spend globally using virtual USD debit cards.

As part of its rollout, the company announced a waiver of all fees on payments received from U.S. clients by Nigerian freelancers. This means that workers in fields like tech, design, writing, and consulting will be able to keep every dollar earned without losing income to hidden charges.

Speaking on the development, Boldswitch CEO Glad Akhison described the move as a step towards financial inclusion. “Our mission is to break barriers and give Nigerians the freedom to earn and spend globally without limitations,” he said.

Freelancers have already begun welcoming the initiative. Temi Adesanya, a Lagos-based graphic designer, said the service has simplified her work life. “Before, I had to wait days and lose money in fees just to access payments. Now, I get paid faster and can use my funds instantly. It’s a game-changer,” she told reporters.

Industry analysts also see the product as a major boost for Nigeria’s growing digital economy. Fintech specialist Chika Okafor noted that while talent from Nigeria has long been in demand worldwide, banking hurdles limited opportunities. “With this solution, Nigerians can compete more effectively on a global scale,” he said.

With competitive exchange rates, fast transactions, and global reach, Boldswitch is positioning itself as a strong player in Nigeria’s fintech ecosystem, alongside established names like Flutterwave and Paystack.
