In a statement issued by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima reiterated the President’s order to the Armed Forces to strengthen their strategies through the deployment of advanced equipment aimed at defeating terrorist groups nationwide.

Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, had earlier visited Darajamal on Saturday to console the families of both civilians and soldiers who were killed by Boko Haram insurgents on Friday night.

In his condolence message on Monday, the Vice President described the attack as a heavy loss to both the state and the nation.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the people of Borno State, and the Nigerian military over the tragic loss of our compatriots. These deaths have plunged the entire nation into grief, but we remain confident that justice will be served for the bereaved families,” Shettima said.

He expressed confidence in the capacity of the Armed Forces to overcome security challenges in the state, pointing to President Tinubu’s approval for the procurement of additional drones and his instruction for security agencies to intensify and reassess their operational strategies.

The Vice President also emphasized the Federal Government’s consideration of creating state police, noting President Tinubu’s view that some security challenges require specialized units familiar with local terrain and culture, capable of operating effectively at the grassroots level.

Shettima offered prayers for the bereaved families and assured the state government and affected communities of sustained Federal Government support in addressing insecurity.
