President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed profound sadness over the death of Leila Fowler, the celebrated lawyer, educationist, and founder of Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Lagos.

Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, titled “President Tinubu mourns Mrs. Leila Fowler, icon of education and service”, the President described her passing as a significant loss to her family, the education sector, and the nation.

Fowler, who held the traditional title Yeye Mofin of Lagos, passed away at the age of 92. She was also the mother of Babatunde Fowler, former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

President Tinubu lauded her as a visionary and trailblazer, noting that the founding of Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls laid the groundwork for academic excellence while empowering generations of young women.

“Through establishing the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, the late Mrs. Fowler nurtured generations of young women, enabling them to reach their fullest potential. Her legacy endures in the thousands of lives she transformed. The nation is grateful for her remarkable contributions and she will be fondly remembered,” the statement read.

The President extended his condolences to the Fowler family, her colleagues, the management and students of the school, and the people of Lagos State, praying for eternal rest for her soul and comfort for all who mourn her passing.
