The image quickly drew attention on social media, with critics accusing her of flaunting church wealth and living off tithes and offerings.
Deborah didn’t hold back in her response. She dismissed the assumptions as false and baseless, stating clearly that she does not rely on church funds to support her lifestyle.

She explained that her personal earnings are what finance her fashion choices and that her family has never depended on offerings for personal use.
She expressed disappointment at how quickly people jump to conclusions, especially when it comes to the families of prominent pastors. For Deborah, the backlash reveals a deeper issue the tendency to equate any sign of comfort with corruption, especially in religious spaces.
She also defended her right to personal expression through fashion. Her style, she said, is simply a reflection of who she is not a symbol of excess or a lack of spiritual grounding. According to her, wearing something nice shouldn’t be seen as a betrayal of one’s faith.
Deborah also touched on the pressure that comes with being a pastor’s child, noting that they are often held to unrealistic standards. She stressed that living a modestly successful life should not automatically trigger suspicion or moral judgment.
Ending her statement, she made it clear that she will continue to live authentically, unaffected by public opinion. “What I wear does not define my faith,” she said, urging critics to focus on their own lives rather than policing hers.
